Barks and Recreation: A Private Dog Park with a Purpose

Imagine having 8000 square meters of secure, open space where your dog can run, play, sniff, and explore to their heart’s content—without the stress of crowded public parks. That’s exactly what Barks and Recreation offers, and it’s not just about fun; it’s about giving back, too.

A Park with a Purpose

Barks and Recreation isn’t your typical dog park. Established in 2023 and relocated to Randparkridge in early 2024, this private park was created with a mission. Every penny from park bookings goes toward supporting three incredible causes:
🐾 Kingsway School
🐾 Thandanani House of Refuge
🐾 Randburg SPCA

By booking time at the park, you’re not just treating your dog to an unforgettable play session—you’re making a real difference in your community.

What’s Inside the Park?

Barks and Recreation is thoughtfully designed to enrich your dog’s experience and provide a safe, stimulating environment.

🌳 8000sqm of Fully Fenced Space – Plenty of room to run, chase, and play. Currently fenced with palisade, but additional fencing is being added for the safety of smaller dogs.
🐕 Agility Equipment – Perfect for dogs who love to climb, jump, and weave.
Goalposts for Treibball – Try your hand (and paw!) at this fun, soccer-inspired game for dogs.
🎾 Fun Obstacles – Including a ball pit, platforms, and more to encourage exploration and physical exercise.
🌿 Self-Selection Garden – Let your dog explore different scents and textures in a calming, sensory garden.
🦴 Scentwork Wall & Proprioception Patch – Ideal for mental stimulation and building body awareness.

When to Visit

The park is open 7 days a week, from 6 AM to 6 PM (7 AM to 5 PM during winter). Whether you’re an early riser or prefer an afternoon outing, there’s a time slot to suit you.

How to Book

Currently, bookings are made through Sniffspot, an online platform for private dog park rentals. The cost is $4/hour (around R70/hour) due to platform fees. However, the park is working on switching to a different booking platform, which may allow the price to drop to R50/hour.

Note: Barks and Recreation charges per hour, not per dog, so you can bring the whole pack!

If you’re interested in hosting a doggy birthday party, meetup, or special event, you can! Just be sure to get approval in advance to avoid scheduling conflicts with any church events on the property.

Why Choose Barks and Recreation?

Beyond the incredible facilities and private experience, Barks and Recreation stands out because of its commitment to giving back. Every visit supports local children, vulnerable community members, and animals in need. It’s a win-win: your dog gets an amazing adventure, and you contribute to a brighter future for others.

So, whether your pup needs a safe space to burn off energy, practice agility, or enjoy some quiet sniff time, Barks and Recreation is the perfect spot to unwind, play, and make a difference.
